Blue Bahia Granite Restored
Dullness and Acid Damage
Homeowners in Cape Coral, Florida contacted us because the finish of their exterior granite bar top had become dull and their interior granite island had etch damage. Normally granite does not etch, but in this case an acidic substance was spilled on the top and left in place for a long time.
Honing, Polishing, and Sealing
After masking and protecting the surfaces surrounding our work area, we used a hand tool with diamond pads to hone the granite. The honing process involves using progressively finer grits, first, heavy grits to grind and erase scratches and surface damage and reveal the undamaged stone underneath, and then finer grits to achieve a beautiful, glossy finish. Our last step was to seal the stone to inhibit staining.
The homeowners were impressed with how we were able to restore the depth and clarity to their Blue Bahia granite.
