Damaged Onyx Bar Top
A gorgeous Honey Onyx bar top in a busy Tampa Bay movie theater restaurant had become dull, chipped, and scratched due to heavy use. In the center of the top, the seam was not quite level. The restaurant, which served food and beverages before and after movies, gave the theater a relaxing, high-end vibe, however, the unsightly appearance of the onyx finish was not making a positive impression.
Our Onyx Repair and Restoration Processes
In order to give the onyx a like-new look, we implemented several different repair and restoration methods. To give the bar top a more uniform, monolithic appearance, we leveled the seam by grinding the stone, cleaned any debris out of the seam, and filled the gap with custom color matched epoxy. We carefully examined the entire top and filled in any small chips, as well. Once the epoxy fully cured, we honed the onyx surface and sides to erase signs of wear and polished to restore the clarity and reflection. Our final step was to apply a high quality impregnating sealer to inhibit staining.
