Granite Crack Precision Repair
Kitchen Sink Granite Cracked
Homeowners in Sarasota, Florida were worried that they would have to replace their granite countertop after a very noticeable crack appeared along the ledge of the sink, so they contacted us for a consultation. We explained that unlike many other types of countertop materials, natural stone, such as granite, can be restored to a like-new condition.
Repair, Refinishing, and Sealing
To protect the area surrounding the sink, we covered cabinets, the floors, and other surfaces with plastic. Next, we mixed tinted epoxy. To ensure proper adhesion, we used a special hand tool to precisely drill along the crack, widening it just enough to allow the epoxy to enter the crack. Once the adhesive set, we used diamond honing and polishing pads to restore finish, blending it beautifully with the surrounding stone. We gave all the granite kitchen countertops a professional deep cleaning and applied an impregnating sealer to inhibit staining.
The homeowners were so relieved that they would not need to replace their Uba Tuba granite countertops and that the repair site would not be noticeable at all to anyone who did not have previous knowledge of the crack.
